A PRACTICAL GUIDE

From a chat
to a shared plan.

“We should meet more often” is a conversation starter.
A clear next step makes it easier to follow through together.

Agree on one next step.

Start in a DM or group conversation. Decide what needs doing, who will do it and when. For example: “I’ll book the table for Saturday.” Keep that action separate from the rest of the conversation.

Make it a Task.

In New Task, give the action a clear title, such as “Book the table.” Choose a date or leave it Anytime. Time, Repeat and Reminder are separate options; use only what the plan needs.

Under More options, People & accountability lets you choose Just me or With people. Inviting support does not transfer responsibility: the Task owner still does and completes the Task.

Keep the context close.

Use the shared Tasks and Challenges entry in Chat to return to the plan without losing the conversation. Review the Task’s details and mark your action complete when it is done. Evidence is optional; agree what support is useful before involving others.

When should it be a Challenge instead?

Use a Task for one action. Use a Challenge for a commitment with a deadline and a completion target or miss limit. “Complete five study sessions in two weeks” is a Challenge; “Study this evening” can be a Task. A Challenge records its own progress and does not need a linked Task for every session.

Keep the terms clear. Required participants must accept a shared Challenge before its terms lock. Sharing, evidence and consequences are optional. A private Challenge needs no participant acceptance or evidence.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Life’s complicated.
CheckIt shouldn’t be.

What is CheckIt?

A messenger for your people and the plans you make together. Chat in DMs and groups, share Tasks and Challenges, and keep your next steps in Home. Optional AI help lives in Space.

Is everything an AI conversation?

No. Chat is for people. Space is where you talk to CheckIt, keep Notes and capture ideas. You can also create and manage your Tasks yourself.

Do I have to connect my other apps?

No. Connections are optional. Choose which supported accounts and read capabilities to allow, and revoke access from Connected Apps.

Can CheckIt send things without asking?

Consequential communication and connected changes require explicit confirmation. Clear, supported personal actions can be created directly, with history and Undo where available.

Can I use CheckIt offline?

Supported personal records and saved conversations use local-first storage. Live AI and connected-app reads need an internet connection.

What’s the difference between a Task and a Challenge?

A Task is an action you can complete, such as calling a friend. A Challenge is a time-bound commitment with a completion target or a limit on misses. For example, five walks in two weeks is a Challenge; today’s walk can be a Task.

Do Tasks and Challenges have to be public?

No. They can be private. Sharing, accountability and evidence are optional. A shared Challenge’s terms need agreement from the required participants before they lock.
